2012년 현재 자동 기상 관측소(AWS)에서 관측된 자료를 보면 연평균 풍속은 2.8m/s이며, 3월에 평균 3.5m/s로 바람이 가장 세고, 9월과 10월에 평균 2.3m/s로 바람이 가장 약한 것을 알 수 있다. 2012년 중 최대풍속은 8월에 불며, 바람의 세기는 13.7m/s이고 남남서(SSW)방향이다. 2012년 서울의 최다풍향은 서풍이 며 계절별 최다풍향은 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울 순으로 서풍, 남남서풍, 남서풍, 서북서풍이다. 바람의 방향은 오염물질의 이동에 영향을 주는데, 최근 중국으로부터 황사와 입자의 크기가 10㎛ 이하인 미세먼지가 유입되어 대기 질이 나빠지고 시민의 건강에도 나쁜 영향을 미치는 원인이 되고있다.

According to weather data, the annual average windspeed in Seoul is 2.8m/s, with March having the strongest winds at a monthly average windspeed of 3.5m/s, while September and October have the lowest monthly average windspeeds at 2.3m/s. The maximum windspeed observed in 2012 was in August, 13.7m/s to the SSW. In 2012, the most common wind direction was W, and the most common wind directions by season were W, SSW, SW, WNW for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, respectively. Wind directions are closely linked to the movement of airborne pollutants - the recent influx of yellow dust and PM-10 (microdust under 10㎛) from China has been harmful to air quality and the health of the residents.
