IT산업

20세기 후반 성장을 주도하는 산업으로 대두된 IT산업은 제조, 통신, 서비스, 도매임대업 등 다양한 업종으로 구성되어 있다(세부 업종에 대해서는 부록 참조). 2005년 현재 서울에는 21천개의 사업체에 26만여명이 종사하고 있는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이들 IT산업은 1998~2005년의 짧은 기간에도 사업체와 종사자 각각 66%, 51%의 성장을 보여, 21세기에도 디지털기술과의 융합을 통해 신성장을 견인할 것으로 기대되고 있다.

사업체의 공간적 분포와 관련해서는 용산구에 가장 많은 사업체가 입지하고 있으나 이는 용산전자상가의 도소매업체 집적에 따른 것이다. 이를 제외하면, 전체 사업체의 21%가 분포하는 강남구와 서초구를 중심으로 강력한 집적이 존재하고, 여의도를 중심으로 한 영등포구와 가산디지털단지를 중심으로 한 구로구와 금천구에서도 높은 수준의 집적이 존재한다.

IT INDUSTRIES

As a leading player in the growth of the late 20 century, IT industry comprises of various sectors such as manufacturing, telecommunications, services, wholesale and leasing industries.(Refer to the Appendix for more information on types of businesses) About 260,000 workers are engaged in 21,000 IT industries in Seoul in 2005. Establishments and employees of IT industry posted remarkable growth rates of 66% and 51%, respectively, from 1998 to 2005. It is expected to serve as a new growth engine by converging with the digital technology in the 21st century.

The biggest number of IT industries are located in Yongsangu, thanks to the concentration of wholesale & retail industries in Yongsan electronic stores. Except that, 21% of IT industries are based in Gangnam-gu and Seocho-gu, followed by Yeongdeungpo-gu, Guro-gu centered around Gasan digital industry complex, and Geumcheon-gu.
