제조업체

2005년 현재 서울에는 7만여개의 제조업체에 약 47만여명이 종사하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는1981년과비교하여 사업체는 31% 증가하고, 종사자는 34% 감소한 결과이다. 업종별로 보면, 섬유·의류, 인쇄·출판 등이 전체 제조업의 50%에 가까운 비중을 보이는 가운데, 종사자를 기준으로 전기·전자, 금속·기계, 석유화학·비금속 등이 상대적으로 높은 비중을 나타내고 있다.

제조업의 공간적 분포는 앞의 업종별 비중에 상응하는 것으로, 을지로, 광희동, 종로, 필동, 신당·창신동 등의 도심권을 중심으로 섬유·의류와 인쇄·출판업이 대거 집적하고 있고, 독산동, 구로동, 가산동, 문래동, 고척동, 영등포동 등의 서남권을 중심으로 금속·기계, 전기·전자 등이 집적하고 있다. 이외, 성수동, 왕십리, 장안동 등을 중심으로 성동구에서도 제조업의 집중이 강하다.

MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES

There are 470,000 employees working for 70,000 manufacturing industries in Seoul in 2005. This shows that the number of industries grew by 31% and employees decreased by 34%, compared with 1981. Textiles & clothing and printing & publishing industries account for about 50% of the manufacturing industry, and more employees work for the electricity & electronics, metal & mechanics and petrochemical & nonmetal industry than other industries.

Its spatial distribution corresponds to the proportion by a industry. For example, textiles & clothing and printing & publishing industries formed a cluster in Eulji-ro, Gwanghuidong, Jongno, Pil-dong, Sindang-dong and Changsin-dong, and electricity & electronics, metal & mechanics industries are crowded in the southwestern region, such as Doksandong, Guro-dong, Gasan-dong, Munrae-dong, Gochuk-dong and Yeongdeungpo-dong. Most manufacturing industries are located in Seongdong-gu, particularly, in Seongsu-dong, Wangsip-ri and Jangan-dong.
